Damien Jon Ellens, 36, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in Ann Arbor. He was born November 30, 1980, in Honolulu, Hawaii, the son of Gene and Jane (Berens) Ellens currently of Grand Rapids.

Damien was proud to be a member of the Neuroscience Research Department at the University of Michigan before beginning his residency in Neurology at the University of Michigan Hospital. He graduated from Hamilton College in New York and completed his Medical Doctorate degree from Yale Medical School. Damien was an avid reader, bicyclist and fly fisher. Damien had also been...

Damien Jon Ellens, 36, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in Ann Arbor. He was born November 30, 1980, in Honolulu, Hawaii, the son of Gene and Jane (Berens) Ellens currently of Grand Rapids.

Damien was proud to be a member of the Neuroscience Research Department at the University of Michigan before beginning his residency in Neurology at the University of Michigan Hospital. He graduated from Hamilton College in New York and completed his Medical Doctorate degree from Yale Medical School. Damien was an avid reader, bicyclist and fly fisher. Damien had also been a counselor and camp doctor at his beloved Camp Dudley in Westport, New York. Damien was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

Damien is survived by his mother and father, Jane and Gene Ellens, sister, Kireth Ellens all of Grand Rapids Michigan, and also his partner of many years Natalie Johnson and his stepdaughter Livia.

A memorial service will be Saturday September 30, 2017 at Church of the Servant (3835 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546) Visitation will from 12 noon to 1:30 pm. The memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m. followed by a reception.
