Stevens, James Hardy of Oscoda, MI formerly of Ann Arbor, and Livingston County, MI died Sunday, May 14, 2017 he was 81. James was born in Cadwell, Georgia the son of the late Walter and Laurabelle Stevens on May 11, 1936. He attended school in Lawrence County Georgia. After graduation he entered the National Guard and later entered the United States Navy. After serving on the USS Bassett (APD 73) James was honorably discharged on June 22, 1963. He later moved to Ann Arbor and married Frances Seyfried. He retired after many years of service...

James was born in Cadwell, Georgia the son of the late Walter and Laurabelle Stevens on May 11, 1936. He attended school in Lawrence County Georgia. After graduation he entered the National Guard and later entered the United States Navy. After serving on the USS Bassett (APD 73) James was honorably discharged on June 22, 1963. He later moved to Ann Arbor and married Frances Seyfried. He retired after many years of service from the Ford Motor CO, Saline. He and Frances moved to Oscoda after his retirement. James will be remembered by his family for his love of cooking, which he was excellent at. He loved the great outdoors and the nature that surrounded him. James was a caring and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was always eager to lend a helping hand to family, friends and even strangers. He is survived by his wife Frances of 51 years, children; Virginia (Joseph) Lybrink and James (Debbie) Stevens, grandchildren; Denise, Christopher, Steven, and Jessica, great grandchildren; Autumn, Virginia, and Colton. He was also preceded in death by his brother John. A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel of Ann Arbor. Visitation will be Thursday, May 18 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. and again on Friday 1 hour prior to the service. Memorial donations may be offered to Be Our Guest Adult Day Service 2020 E.
